It is not a big crowded hotel but a small charming hotel-boutique, with villas spread throughout the hill. We loved everything. Hospitality of staff, nice rooms (very cosy and romantic), nice reception area with free wi-fi, great restaurant. I would say it's more a 5* then a 4* hotel. The hotel is good for couples, couples with babies and families. A village of San Teodoro is in 10 min drive, it has restaurants, touristic shops, night promenade etc. There are a lot of beautiful beaches in this area, the most beautiful is Istana and Coda Cavalo.

The hotel's beach is quite small as it's situated between the rocks, of corse you can swim there, but the best beaches, big and with limpide blue water are just 10 min drive (all are public beaches).

Great views all round, everything you need for a relaxing stay. Lovely girl on reception - always helpful

A small distance from the closest town so you need a car

Services from the staff was realy good.Good atmosphere overall.

Because of its location you need a car to get around.

The place was fabulous but remote so advisable to hire a car if staying longer than a few days as taxis are expensive. Quoted 40 euro each way to/from Olbia airport. Total chill out place. The beach is a stone's throw away and paradise. The hotel overlooks a turquoise bay and the famous islands, beautiful. The views are breathtaking from the restaurant and poolside. The staff are very amenable, friendly and service was excellent. Will be back.

Same beach towel for the whole stay. No pizzas or pizza delivery!

    Very good

Hotel Don Diego is located in a beautiful spot on the coast of Sardinia. The view is spectacular! Hotel staff give you all their time and attention, they were so helpful to me and my family. The beach is quiet, it has some activities, its not so big, but there are plenty of other beaches nearby. Also the food at the restaraunt was really good.

Biggest complaint is the incredibly thin walls which makes a big problem when your trying to sleep and the neighbors next door or upstairs are walking or just even moving a chair around, you can hear it all! Another small problem, only for those with bad knees or any accessability problems, there are steps to everything, slopes also, so that may be uncomfortable for some people.

Very unusual accomodation in individual houses with about 6 apartments in each house set in delightful gardens with great swimming pool and tennis court and good water sports.

Sardinia generally was unbelievably expensive and this hotel was no exception: they had the gall to charge £2.50 for a tea bag for morning tea (note no milk!) and a similar sum for a towel for use by the pool with the same sum being charged if you want to replace the towel. Dinner is 37 euros without drinks - bear in mind the average bottle of wine was nearly 30 euros. They spoilt the hotel by these niggly unnecessary charges

Stunningly located, the hotel and it's grounds are picture perfect. As we had hoped the hotel immediately felt welcoming, intimate and full of character. The staff in particular make your stay a delight and are a credit to the hotel management and Sardinia. From reception, to the pool staff, to the life guard, they were all exceptional. Surprisingly, to me at least, most staff seemed to have excellent language skills, not just English.Fabulous for a romantic and relaxing break.

Very little could be faulted and only in a minor way despite the hotel only just having opened for the season. The hotel isn't really designed for young children, there being many steps and essentially an adult food menu. However one only has to ask and the staff/kitchen can accomodate most requests given a little notice. If we were disappointed in any way it was with dinner. The food although presented beautifully at all times, in lovely surroundings, was on too many occasions (to our taste at least) unnecessarily salty. We would recommend for stays beyond 3 or 4 days the hiring of a car. The cost of taxis is expensive!

The location of the hotel is absolutely wonderful, with very well laid out accommodation.

The restaurant staff. To say we felt like unwelcome guests would be putting it very mildly. The restaurant manager totally ignored us - when we had an evening meal in the restaurant he sat us down without giving us menus (although all other guests arriving were given menus immediately). When we asked for menus he gave us only two - although there were three of us! Again, at breakfast, we had to ask three times for tea. Waiters walked past our table, serving other guests who arrived after us with drinks, and ignoring us. A very unpleasant experience - so much so that we would not dine again in the restaurant in the evening. The reception staff, by comparison, were extremely polite, helpful and friendly. I would recommend the hotel to other travellers for the location (which is stunning), but not for a warm welcome.

    The beach

The restaurant food is too ordinary for what they charge, it is a rip off. The window's rooms need mosquito nets.
